Retirement Party
One of my favorite parts about my job is the wide variety of events I get to plan. I am not just a wedding planner and I also do more than corporate meeting planning. If there’s an event that is needing planned I will do it!
In May 2019 I had the honor of planning a retirement party for someone in our community who is a well loved colleague, grandpa, dad, and friend. The impact he has had on those around him was so evident at the party.
Vendors:
Event Planner - 618 EVENTS, Maggie
Venue - Lake of the Woods Pavilion
Catering - Michaels Catering
Dessert - Schnucks Bakery
This was a casual summer bbq located at the Lake of the Woods Pavilion in Mahomet. Surrounded by a small lake and beautiful park grounds it was the perfect location for the kids to run around while the adults socialized.
Michaels Catering once again killed it with their fabulous bbq spread.
This retiree worked in the construction industry so we ordered cupcakes from Schnucks Bakery with bright orange construction cones on top.
Lessons learned:
Be confident. I am a professional event planner and even though I might be “young” it doesn’t mean I don’t have expertise. There’s a reason people hire me to plan their events! This doesn’t mean to be arrogant and not ask questions, but I can be confident I am able to plan and execute a great event for my clients!
Relationships matter. Building relationships with vendors is SO important. I really can’t say that enough. This event showed me that seeing how a vendor works (good or bad) can really help in the long run.
